A Heart Felt Resolution
Last week during AFRW Legislative Days, the following resolution was presented to the Republican Women of Coffee County. The resolution was signed by Governor Bob Riley and then was also read the following day on the floor of the Alabama Senate by Senator Harrianne Smith.
Whereas, on March 1, 2007, a tornado touched down in Enterprise Alabama causing major damage and loss of life; and
Whereas, the hardest hit was the high school resulting in tragic loss of eight young lives; and
Whereas, the mebers of the Republican Women of Coffee County sprang into action by clearing debris, and comforting those affected by the diaster; and
Whereas, the days following the tragedy these caring women responded when the major asked them to take over the program to feed breakfast and lunch to city employees during the crisis; and
Whereas, club president Sue Neuwein and club member Barbara Light coordinated with the help of RWCC members, associates and many other volunteers, spent 480 volunteer hours to serve from 350-600 meals per day. These meals were prepared in the Recreation Center and transported to various job sites where the employees were working non-stop on recovery efforts.
Be it therefore resolved that the Alabama Federation of Republican Women recognizes the leadership of President Sue Neuwien and the efforts of Barbara Light and all the many volunteers who truly represent the stamina of the Republican Woman. These actions exemplify the spirit of "Caring for America". We thank you.
Adopted by the AFRW at Legislative Days in Montgomery Alabama this 11th day of April 2007.
