Office space…..
I love serving with the AFRW. We get good things accomplished and our voice is growing in volume and strength. When I’m not serving with the AFRW, I am a full-time professional photographer, wife and mom. I work from an office at home. My office is nothing special. Lots of tables, organizational baskets, a computer, phone, a couple of printers, lots of photographic printer paper, camera equipment, inks…you get the picture. I need to redo the office, but funds are limited. Limited funds describes the situation of most small business owners, many who do their work on a part time basis.
So imagine my surprise when I read the following story describing the amounts of money that state senators are spending on their office "redos". (click here for more details)
Serving as a state legislator is a part time job. Because of a self-voted pay raise that part-time job now pays almost $50,000 per year. According to this article at least 10 Democratic senators have spent almost $40,000 redecorating and furnishing their offices. I must tell you I’m more than a bit ticked off about this. While I work from "what I can afford" and work hard to make my way, at least 10 Democratic Senators from across this state have decided to use public funds to spruce up their offices AND accept bloated salaries for their part time jobs.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had a public fund to go to when we want to spruce up our business. How nice would it be to never have to work to achieve rewards, just take it. Actually no, that wouldn’t be nice. Because then we would all be as disgusting as our state dems, especially the leadership.
I’m a bit royally miffed discouraged that our public servants have no idea what it means to be a servant. They serve us. They shouldn’t MOOCH off of us. I wish there was a nice way to state that, but nice words fail to describe what "mooch" fully illustrates.
