Are there holes?

Some say there are holes in Thompson’s conservative armor.  What do ya think?

A Pesky Little Detail

Here’s the pesky little detail  million dollar question.  Do you think any candidate has yet to figure out that the GOP base is looking for A REAL CONSERVATIVE?  Not just a person with an (R) beside their name and an American flag on their lapel?

I realize this is a pesky little detail among those seeking our vote, but like a gnat at a picnic, the conservative base is buzzing and seemingly irritating the current candidate selection.  Why even President Bush has taken to insulting us.  They want our money, but not our conservative views.  Have you seen anyone jumping up an down about the candidate market as of today?  Have we seen huge amounts of enthusiasm directed toward 2008 in ways other than "We Have to Beat Hillary"?

Here’s what I personally am waiting for.  I am waiting for a candidate to strike a conservative cord so strongly that I want to jump up and down for joy in anticipation of rallying the base again. (Ah, say like the Immigration Debate last week did.)  I want a GOP candidate I can feel strongly about, not just one that I hope will beat Hillary. I want to feel passionate about a candidate not passionate about beating Hillary.  Can I get an Amen out there?

So do you think that any of them get it?  Really?  Or do they all think that we’ll just hover around the most likely candidate to beat Hillary and start writing checks.  That the endless debates and press conferences will lull us into voting red just to beat Hillary? Hint to the currrent stash of candidates:  We want a true conservative, not just someone who claims to be one, who recently became one, or who wants to one day grow up to be one.

I’m weary of the already endless news articles, so-called debates and emails requesting my money.  I want a candidate who speaks to my conservative views and ideals.  I want someone who believes strongly in the conservative platform, not just believes in whatever the latest public opinion poll says is popular and will gain the most middle of the road voters.

Would somebody please stand up and be a real CONSERVATIVE!!!!!  Then I can take care of that pesky little detail of writing a contribution check.  Cause until I see a real conservative, my checkbook stays in my purse.

Polls provide a lot of material for this weekend’s GOP gathering…

The latest poll has Senator John McCain making comments that should provide Alabama GOPers something to talk about with him this weekend.  According to news reports, McCain is shrugging off the polls that put him behind Guiliani and Thompson.  These numbers have also led him to respond to San Francisco Bay area voters by saying " I have taken positions that many Bay area voter’s agree with."  Wow.  Seeing as most times voters in the Bay area of San Francisco and the Bay area in Mobile differ, Senator McCain may face some tough questions as he is speaks at the Summer ALGOP meeting.  Read more here.

In the above mentioned poll, Thompson who has yet to formally annouce his candidacy is beating McCain and Romney by a large margin.  Read more here.
