Press Release from Albert Lipscomb
(Magnolia Springs)—Former State Senator Albert Lipscomb announced today that he will seek the Republican nomination for Senate District 32 in the special election to replace Senator Bradley Byrne who resigned to take the post of Two-Year College Chancellor. Lipscomb was elected to the state senate in 1989, representing Baldwin County for three terms. He was appointed by Governor Riley to the Baldwin County Commission in June 2004 upon the untimely death of Commissioner Mary Frances Stewart. Lipscomb was elected to a full two-year term in November of 2004 and served as Chair during 2006. “I believe my experience at the state and local levels of government makes me uniquely qualified to serve the people of Baldwin County once again,“ Lipscomb stated. “What’s wrong in Montgomery is the same as what’s wrong in Washington—we have lost our moral compass. Throughout my career in the Senate, I fought for the sanctity of the family, rights of the unborn and against the expansion of gambling,” Lipscomb said. “I will work to promote responsible and managed economic growth, to create jobs and to provide a top-notch education system for our children,” Lipscomb added. Albert Lipscomb comes from a family who has farmed in Baldwin County for over 100 years. He is married to the former Rhonda Dudley. They have two children, Mandy and Bart and a daughter-in-law Jessica. The Lipscombs are members of Vernant Park Baptist Church where Albert serves as a deacon.
