Romney Fundraiser
I was honored to be a part of a very successful fundraising event for Governor Mitt Romney last Wednesday at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Dennis Olive in their lovely Hampton Cove home. I have photographed many political folks in my career including the President and our own Governor, but I must say I’ve never photographed a political figure that my camera likes as much as it liked Governor Romney. He has a very Presidential look to him. I took a whole series of images at the event and would love to share those with you. But I seem to be having some trouble uploading the images on the blog. So if you would like to see some additional images, please click here.
I learned a great deal about Governor Romney as I watched him last Wednesday. What impressed me most was his attentive nature with the folks who had questions for him. Or the folks who just wanted a picture taken. He was totally theirs for the moments he spent with them. Impressive. And quite honestly…..rare.
I liked what he had to say. Most surprising was hearing him say he’s for the Fair Tax, but would need to know much more about the ins and outs of the proposal before implementing it. Smart guy. I liked what he had to say about immigration, although I didn’t get to ask the detailed questions I wanted to ask. He believes in securing our borders and making folks follow the law without giving preference to those who are already here illegally. He also wants to make employers accountable for hiring illegals. Here here!!!!!
He was very genuine. Very kind. Very on top of his game. Even as a storm rolled in and thunder and lightening threatened to take away his thunder, he rocked right along getting his message out and listening to folks.
Saw lots of folks we all know and love. State Treasurer Kay Ivey, who is his Alabama Chairperson. Congressman Robert Aderholt and his chief of staff Hood Harris. State Representative Micky Hammon. Madison County Commissioner and former Lt. Governor candidate Mo Brooks. And that’s just a few familiar faces I saw. Saw many of our AFRW ladies in attendance. There is a lot of interest in Mitt Romney.
As the playing field gets more and more crowded, I know the choices will get more and more difficult. But quite honestly, I was extremely impressed with Governor Romney and will be watching him closely over the next weeks and months. I may have just photographed our next President.
